Red Zone: Fire Safety

Step into the boots of Oxnard’s bravest and get hands-on experience with real fire safety tools.

  1. Blast a Digital Fire: Grab a fire extinguisher, take aim, and blast out the flames on our high-tech digital fire simulator!
  2. Gear Up Like a Pro: Try on real firefighter turnout gear and see if you have what it takes to carry the heavy equipment!
  3. Smoke Alarm Speed Challenge: Race against the clock to install a real smoke alarm on a drywall test board! Test your DIY skills and learn exactly where to place them in your home to keep your family safe.
  4. Fire Truck Jolly Jumper: Kids can jump, climb, and slide through the giant fire truck inflatable for a fun firefighter adventure!
Blue Zone: Disaster Preparedness

Experience the earthquake simulator, take a creative coloring break, and learn how to protect your home and family from California’s unpredictable emergencies.

  1. Ride the Earthquake Simulator: Step inside and feel the shake! Experience what a strong earthquake feels like in a safe, controlled simulator, and practice exactly how to drop, cover, and hold on.
  2. Sandbag Stacking Challenge: Beat the clock to protect a “home” from rising flood waters! Learn the proper way to stack sandbags in this fun, fast-paced activity.
  3. Spin the Disaster Wheel: Test your emergency knowledge! Spin the wheel, answer disaster trivia, and win awesome prizes.
  4. Penn the Preparedness Pelican Coloring Station: Take a creative break and color an emergency plan! Kids can grab some crayons and learn safety tips with coloring pages featuring Penn the Preparedness Pelican, Oxnard’s brand-new disaster mascot!
Purple Zone: Life-Saving Skills

Jump in and learn the crucial skills you need to become a neighborhood hero when it matters most.

  1. “Disaster Hero” Obstacle Course: Kids can run, jump, and maneuver their way to safety while building physical readiness on this action-packed kids’ course!
  2. Emergency Gas Shut-Off: Master the gas shut-off wrench so you know exactly how to secure your home’s utilities in an emergency.
  3. Become a Lifesaver: Practice Hands-Only CPR on our training mannequins and learn the rhythm that saves lives.
  4. Basic First Aid: Learn the essential first aid skills needed to handle injuries safely and calmly during an emergency.
Orange Zone: Pet Preparedness

This zone is all about keeping your furry friends and unique animals safe!

  1. Paws to Safety Pet Evacuation Challenge: Kids can race through a mini obstacle course to build a pet emergency go-bag!
  2. Pet First Aid & CPR: Learn how to check your pet’s vitals and practice CPR so you’re ready to be a rescue hero for your animals.
  3. Petting Zoo & Unique Animal Evacuation: Visit the petting zoo and learn expert tips on how to plan for and safely evacuate unique animals and livestock during a disaster.
  4. Meet the Working Animals: Say hi to the incredible Oxnard Police Officers, their K9 partners, the Fire Department Peer Support K9s, and the gentle giants of the Police Mounted Unit!
